INGREDIENTS FOR THE BREADSTICKS

  • 250ml water (warm)

  • 1½ tsp dry yeast

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 360g flour

  • 1¾ tsp salt

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • Vegan cheese

INGREDIENTS FOR THE HERB BUTTER

  • butter (about 90g)

  • fresh chopped herbs (rosemary, marjoram, basil, thyme, parsley, chives)

  • salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste

PREPARATION

1) Mix sugar with water and stir in dry yeast and let sit for 10 minutes.

2) Add 180g of the flour, the salt and the oil to the yeast mixture and mix. Then add the remaining flour (180g) and knead into a smooth and soft dough. (You may add up to 60g more flour and knead in if necessary).

3) Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover and let rise for 1½ hours.

4) Transfer dough to floured work surface and divide into 12 equal pieces (56g each).

5) Cut cheese into strips. Roll out dough ball, incorporate 1-2 cheese strips and carefully roll out dough to about 22cm long roll and place on lined baking sheet. Do the same with the rest of the dough balls.

6) Cover the dough sticks and let them rise for another hour.

7) Preheat the oven to 220°C.

8) Bake the cheese breadsticks for 11-13 minutes.

9) Mix the ingredients for the herb butter together in a bowl until smooth. Use directly or pour into ice cube molds and freeze until you want to use it.

10) Remove the breadsticks from the oven and brush with the homemade herb butter and dust with garlic powder if you like. Done! Now all you have to do is enjoy this cheesy treat!

Enjoy!
