CHOCOLATE-PEAR CAKE
Beware of this beautiful and fudgy chocolate-pear-cake. It might seem like an unusual pairing to you, BUT those two ingredients go extremely well together, trust me. The tartness of the chocolate compliments the slightly sweet fruitiness of the pear in a way that you’ll demolish your slice in absolutely no time. So whatever the occasion, if you’re having a get together tea party or just an insatiable cake craving, this cake is perfect for you! It’s an easy fix and whipped up in no time with only 9 ingredients needed. So let’s stop the chit chat and let’s get baking!
Let’s connect:
Ingredients
(for one normal sized baking form, 29Ø)
4-5 pears
300g flour
1-2tbsp baking powder
20g cocoa powder
160g applesauce
250ml plantmilk
80g sugar/sugar replacement (or more if you’re a lil’ sweet tooth)
100g walnuts (finely crushed)
80-100g dark chocolate (melted)
1-2tbsp Apple cider vinegar
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Peel the pears (this step is optional, if you’re using organic pears you can leave the peel on), remove the pear core, and quarter each pear, after that cut each piece lengthwise to create fine scores. Put all the pear pieces into a bowl and drizzle with some lemon juice.
Combine the flour, the cocoa powder, and the baking powder in a bowl. Set aside.
In a separate bowl mix the plant milk, walnuts, applesauce, and sugar together until combined.
Now sieve in the dry ingredients, add in the melted chocolate and whisk everything together until a nice and elastic batter forms.
Pour the batter into a lined or greased baking tin, layer the pears on top, carefully pressing them into the batter.
Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean). Let cool down a little and take out of the tin.
Dust with icing sugar and serve with vegan whipped cream or some vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
