WHOLE WHEAT BAO BUNS

 

WHOLE WHEAT BAO BUNS! We absolutely LOVEEEE Bao buns with all kinds of fillings but since we're trying to incorporate more whole wheat into our diet we figured why not try making Bao buns with whole wheat flour! And it worked pretty well! They tasted fantastic and were still pretty soft and fluffy so definitely a thumbs up for this one👍 Wanna try these buns? Follow this easy peasy recipe!

To a bowl add:

  • 240g whole wheat flour

  • 1tsp yeast

  • 1tsp baking powder

  • 1/4tsp salt

  • little agave or maple syrup

  • splash of oil

  • 160-180ml water


1. Combine until a soft dough forms. Cover and let rest for 20min.

2. Now roll out the dough and cut out circles.

3. Place a piece of parchment paper on each circle before folding it over to prevent the Bao from sticking to itself.

4. Put in a steaming basket and let rest for an additional 20minutes, then steam the Bao for 10 min.

5. Fill with your preferred filling and enjoy!
